So the Duckweed Green

set so the duckweed green
& only to unshaken
in webbed feet
of glided bird
the sun that so sets is shone;
if faintly the day turns
& bushes upon the flat leaf
that to south London does unsmother –
a swan breaches with aeroplane
line the knotted shine
gives way to outwards ebb the
sickly brown ooze that
so coldly folds around
the feet.
