So Unuseful So Small

in an office
I trace my left hand on scrap
a sheet of paper.
the trembling line frames
my unuseful hand
so small & - carcass encased
in faint grey.

it is a hand, so little
does it,
but the knuckles are
large. their
waist too broad to( in later
life) sling a final wedding
ring, as understand now
the hand lays so
unuseful. so small.

ferociously
my acute pencil
darkens the thick knuckles
a bit around the edges.
it is a pencil I leave
in the office;
swinging down the foggy
streets, my unsightly
hands to go in faint grey.
